What to prepare for your study
Congratulations on reaching the final week of the semester! As you approach the finish line, it's important to stay focused and organised amidst the challenges and demands of exams and assignments. To help you navigate this crucial period successfully, I would love to share with you my go to “Final week checklist” to ensure you're fully prepared:
Review the syllabus
Carefully read through the syllabus for each course, noting important details such as exam dates, assignment deadlines, and any specific requirements or instructions.
Create a study timetable
Develop a detailed study timetable that outlines your daily schedule, allocating specific time slots for each subject or assignment. Be sure to include breaks to avoid burnout.
Organise your study space
Set up a clean, well-organised study area that is free from distractions. Ensure you have adequate lighting and all the essential supplies, such as pens, highlighters, notebooks, and a reliable computer.
Prioritise tasks
Identify the most urgent or challenging assignments and exams. Prioritise these tasks based on their weightage or complexity to allocate appropriate time and effort.
Gather study materials
Collect all the necessary study materials, including textbooks, lecture notes, handouts, and online resources. Make sure you have everything you need to review and prepare effectively.
Review and revise lecture notes
Go through your lecture notes and any additional study materials to refresh your memory. Highlight key concepts and make note of any areas that require further understanding.
Seek clarification
If you have any doubts or questions about the course material, reach out to your professors, teaching assistants, or classmates for clarification. Don't hesitate to ask for help when needed.
Practise past exams

Take care of your well-being
Prioritise self-care to maintain your physical and mental well-being. Get sufficient sleep, eat nutritious meals, engage in regular exercise, and take short breaks to relax and recharge.
Stay motivated
Set realistic goals for each study session or task, and reward yourself when you achieve them. Remind yourself of the importance of your efforts and the positive outcomes you will achieve through your hard work.
Manage stress
Implement stress management techniques such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, or engaging in activities you enjoy. Take regular breaks and engage in relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety and maintain focus.
